Does the iPhone 18 Pro Max have a SIM card slot?

Published · VoltVault Team

No. The iPhone 18 Pro Max has no SIM card slot. Apple's specs page lists Dual eSIM and says the phone is not compatible with physical SIM cards, so your carrier has to put your number on an eSIM. VoltVault lists the 256GB US model, eSIM only, open-box and never used, for $1,100 USD with free tracked shipping from Utah, USA.

What Apple's spec sheet says

SIMDual eSIM: two active eSIMs, stores eight or more
Physical SIM cardNot supported, no tray
Applies toiPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max
What you needA carrier that supports eSIM and a wireless service plan

The last row is Apple's own footnote. An eSIM is a SIM built into the phone; your carrier loads your plan onto it instead of mailing a plastic SIM.

Move your number before you pay

Apple's guide lists the ways a number gets onto the phone. Which one works depends on your carrier:

  1. eSIM Quick Transfer from your previous iPhone. Both phones need to be nearby, signed in to the same Apple Account, with Bluetooth on and iOS 18.4 or later. During setup, follow the prompt to transfer your number.
  2. Convert your plastic SIM. Apple says some carriers can turn a physical SIM into an eSIM. Ask yours to do it for your new phone.
  3. Carrier activation or a QR code. The carrier sends the eSIM to the phone, or gives you a QR code: tap Use QR code on the Set Up Cellular screen, or scan it later with the Camera app.

Coming from an Android phone? Apple's guide has a section for that too. If you are not sure, call your carrier and ask: "Can you put my number on an eSIM for an iPhone 18 Pro Max?"

If you are outside the US

Apple keeps a list of carriers that offer eSIM on iPhone, by country. Check yours there and with the carrier itself. Apple also notes that in Hong Kong and Macao certain iPhone models use two nano-SIM cards; the VoltVault phone is the US model, so it has no tray. Read the guide for buyers abroad for delivery and setup.
