Official sources checked October 28, 2026: Sony's PS5 console page and PlayStation Blog searches for PS6 and PlayStation 6. This is a dated check, not a promise about future announcements.
Is the PS5 worth it in 2026?
It can be, if there are PlayStation games you want to play now and the console fits your budget. Start with the games, not an unannounced console: check their platforms on the publisher's official pages, then decide whether you want to play them on PS5. Sony's current PS5 page shows the console and its game lineup.
Waiting makes sense if your current setup already covers the games you want, or if buying a console would stretch your budget. There is no need to buy a PS5 just because another console might eventually exist. Equally, an unverified next-console rumor is not an official timetable for your purchase.
What is actually known about PS6?
On our October 28 check, the PlayStation Blog search for PS6 returned "Nothing Found". The search for PlayStation 6 returned posts about other games and older Store updates, not a PS6 announcement. We do not turn those results, third-party reports or leaks into a release year, price, specs or a claim about Sony's future plans. Check Sony's own channels for later news.
We do not sell a PS6, take PS6 preorders or promise that a PS5 purchase will transfer to a future console. This page helps you choose whether to buy the available PS5 or keep your current setup.
The PS5 available here
VoltVault's PS5 Slim Disc Edition, 1TB, open-box, never used, in stock at $399 USD. It is the Slim model with the disc drive included, not the Digital Edition. Read the PS5 Disc Edition product page for the current offer and PS5 Disc Edition in stock for a short listing summary. The condition is open-box, never used.
Ships from Utah, USA within 2 business days of confirmed payment. The 30-day money-back guarantee runs from delivery. The price is before applicable tax; see the product page and shipping terms before ordering.
Would the PS5 Pro be a better fit?
The PS5 Pro is another PS5 model, not a PS6. Use is the PS5 Pro worth it? and PS5 vs PS5 Pro for that separate decision rather than treating it as a next-generation promise. The Pro does not include a disc drive; our Slim Disc Edition does. See the PS5 Pro product page and PS5 Pro in stock for its current offer.
Check the price without relying on a rumor
Our how much is a PS5? guide separates the current store offer from Sony's published pricing. For the dated maker announcements, read the 2026 console price changes or Sony's March 27 price notice. None of those PS5 prices establishes a PS6 price or release date.
