What Sony raised, and when

Sony announced the increase on the PlayStation Blog on March 27, 2026: "With continued pressures in the global economic landscape, we've made the decision to increase the prices of PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal remote player globally." The new US prices took effect on April 2, 2026: PS5 $649.99, PS5 Digital Edition $599.99 and PS5 Pro $899.99. The PS5 Pro launched at $699.99 in November 2024, and the PS5 with a disc drive at $499.99 in November 2020. For the PS5 Pro on its own, see how much is a PS5 Pro?

Why is the Xbox Series X so expensive now?

Microsoft raised Xbox prices twice. Xbox Wire, June 25, 2026: "Last October, we increased XBOX console price by $20-$70 in the U.S." Then, "Effective August 1, 2026 ... The price of XBOX consoles will increase by US$100 for 512 GB models and US$150 for 1 TB models." Its reason: "console storage and memory prices have increased by more than 2.5x", and consoles "are typically not sold at a profit, but instead for less than they cost to make." Today xbox.com lists the Series X 1TB with disc drive at $799.99 and the Series S 512GB at $499.99. Both launched in November 2020, at $499 and $299 (Xbox Wire). Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo's US store lists the Switch 2 system at $499.99 (checked October 27, 2026). It launched on June 5, 2025 at $449.99 (Nintendo). More: how much is a Nintendo Switch 2?

Why ours are under the launch price

We bought our stock before the 2026 increases, so we price each console from its original launch price and go under it, for one console or for a shop buying several (wholesale). Open-box, never used means the retail box has been opened but the console inside has not been played on and nothing was repaired. We never sell it as factory-sealed or refurbished.
