Does the Xbox Series S play Blu-ray?
No: Xbox.com says the Xbox Series S does not play physical discs, so it is not a Blu-ray or DVD player. VoltVault has the Xbox Series S 512GB digital in stock at $199, and the Xbox Series X 1TB disc, the one with the 4K UHD Blu-ray drive, in stock at $379: both open-box, never used, with free tracked shipping from Utah, USA and 30-day returns.

What Xbox.com says about discs on the Series S
Microsoft answers "Will Xbox Series S play game discs?" with a no: "XBOX Series S consoles are all-digital gaming consoles for disc-free gaming." The footnote on the same page is broader than games: "Use with digital games only; console does not play physical discs." A Blu-ray film, a 4K UHD Blu-ray and a DVD are all physical discs, so none of them plays on a Series S, whether it is the 512GB or the 1TB model. Movies on a Series S: streaming only
The Series S is still a movie box, just not a disc one. Xbox.com says it can "stream 4K video" from apps such as Disney+ and Netflix. Films you have bought on disc stay on the shelf unless you have a player with a drive.
The Xbox that plays Blu-ray
That is the Xbox Series X with a disc drive. Xbox.com says the Series X "is available with a UHD Blu-ray Disc player," and its tech specs list the optical drive as "XBOX Series X Carbon Black: 4K UHD Blu-Ray". The All-Digital Series X has no drive, so check for the word disc before you buy one. Does the Xbox Series X play Blu-ray? covers the Series X models one by one.
