What Microsoft says about Blu-ray playback
Microsoft Store's Series X FAQ says: “Yes, the Xbox Series X comes equipped with a UHD Blu-ray Disc player.” Read that alongside the model names, because an All-Digital Series X is a different console variant.
In the Optical Drive section, Xbox's official Series X specifications list “4K UHD Blu-Ray” for the Carbon Black and the 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition. The same page separately labels the Robot White model “All-Digital.”
Disc Series X, digital Series X, or Series S?
- Series X Carbon Black with disc drive: the maker lists a 4K UHD Blu-ray optical drive. VoltVault sells the 1TB disc version.
- Series X 2TB Galaxy Black: also listed with a 4K UHD Blu-ray drive; it is not the unit in our product listing.
- Series X All-Digital Robot White: no disc drive; it cannot read Blu-ray discs.
- Series S: disc-free. Microsoft's FAQ calls it “designed for disc-free gaming.” It has no drive for Blu-ray discs.
If the buyer needs discs, the Series X we sell has the drive; the Series S does not. Our Series S product page currently lists $199 USD, open-box, never used; check that page for its current availability.

Look for 1TB Disc on our Xbox Series X listing. Do not assume every console named Series X has a disc drive. This answer does not guarantee compatibility with every disc or replace Microsoft's support guidance for a particular title or format.
