Does the Xbox Series X come with a controller?

That is one controller in the box, not two. Microsoft also packs the HDMI cable and the power cord.
What Microsoft says comes in the box
The FAQ on Microsoft Store’s Xbox Series X page asks “What does the XBOX Series X come with?” and answers: “The XBOX Series X console comes with one XBOX Series X controller, an ultra-high speed HDMI cable, and a power cord.”
On Xbox’s Series X page, the 1TB Disc Drive Carbon Black model lists these under Includes:
- XBOX Series X – 1TB Carbon Black
- XBOX Wireless Controller – Carbon Black
The FAQ on the same Xbox page says: “With XBOX Series X, an XBOX Series X console, controller, Ultra High Speed HDMI cable, and power cord are included.” Both pages read October 28, 2026. When we read the Microsoft Store page, its Series X showed “Out of stock”.

What our Xbox Series X ships with
Our Xbox Series X listing reads: “Includes Xbox Wireless Controller, power cable, and HDMI.” Its Includes line reads: “Console, Xbox Wireless Controller, cables”. We ship against that list. The console is the 1TB Disc model in Carbon Black. It is open-box and has never been used.
The listing does not name a second controller, a game, Game Pass or batteries, and this page does not add them. To ask about anything else in the box before you order, email orders@shopvoltvault.com and a person will answer. If an item on the listing is missing when the console arrives, email the same address, and 30-day returns apply.
Do you need a second controller?
For two players on one console, yes. Microsoft Store lists the Xbox Wireless Controller in Carbon Black among the accessories it sells separately. VoltVault does not sell controllers on their own. Xbox’s FAQ also says Series X|S consoles work with most Xbox One controllers, so a controller you already own may work.
Is a game or Game Pass included?
Not with our unit. Our listing names the console, the controller and the cables only. Xbox’s FAQ says you can add Game Pass as a standalone purchase.
