iPad accessory compatibility: which keyboard, case and Pencil fits your iPad
Magic Keyboards and Smart Folios are cut for one screen size and one set of iPad generations, and Apple Pencil support depends on the exact model. Find your iPad in the left column to see which of the accessories we list fit it. Every cell comes from the "Fits" line on that accessory's own product page.
The mistakes that send keyboards back
- 11-inch and 13-inch aren't interchangeable. An 11-inch iPad Air keyboard or folio does not fit a 13-inch iPad Air, and the other way round.
- Air and Pro aren't interchangeable. None of the iPad Air keyboards or folios we list fit an iPad Pro, and the iPad Pro ones don't fit an iPad Air.
- The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is not the 13-inch. The Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro 13-inch and Smart Folio for iPad Pro 13-inch fit only the iPad Pro 13-inch (M5) and (M4).
- Apple Pencil Pro is picky. It works with iPad Pro 13-inch (M5), iPad Pro 13-inch (M4), iPad Pro 11-inch (M5), iPad Pro 11-inch (M4), iPad Air 13-inch (M4), iPad Air 13-inch (M3), iPad Air 13-inch (M2), iPad Air 11-inch (M4), iPad Air 11-inch (M3), iPad Air 11-inch (M2), iPad mini (A17 Pro) only. The Apple Pencil (USB-C) covers far more models; see Apple Pencil Pro vs Apple Pencil (USB-C).
How to check your iPad model
On the iPad, open Settings, then General, then About. Model Name shows the exact model, for example iPad Air 11-inch (M3). Match both the screen size and the chip or generation to the table above.
