Open-box PS5 Disc Edition
An open-box PS5 Disc Edition is a PlayStation 5 with the disc drive built in whose box has already been opened, so it is not sold as factory-sealed; Sony still lists the PS5 1 TB with a disc drive new on PlayStation Direct, which we read on October 28, 2026. VoltVault has the PS5 Slim Disc Edition 1TB in stock: open-box, never used, $399 USD, shipped from Utah, USA within 2 business days of confirmed payment, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Open-box at Best Buy vs open-box, never used
"Open-box" does not mean the same thing everywhere. Best Buy's open-box PS5 Slim 1TB page (model 1000049888, the same 1TB Slim disc model we sell) describes its open-box items as "opened and returned by another customer" (read October 28, 2026). It grades them Excellent, Good or Fair and prices each grade differently, says each open-box item is unique, and suggests visiting a store to see its condition.
VoltVault's PS5 is different: the box has been opened, but the console has not been used, and it is $399 USD with free tracked shipping.
What ours is, and what it is not
- Open-box, never used. The box has been opened, so we do not sell it as factory-sealed, but the console itself has not been used
- Not refurbished. A refurbished console has been used or returned, then restored and resold
- The Disc Edition. PS5 Slim, 1TB SSD, disc drive built in. Not the Digital Edition (see PS5 Digital vs Disc), and not a separate disc drive
- Not the PS5 Pro. The Pro is a different console; see Open-box PS5 Pro

Common questions
What does open box mean for a PS5?
The box has been opened, so the console is not sold as factory-sealed. At some stores that means a customer bought it and returned it; Best Buy describes its open-box items as "opened and returned by another customer" and grades them Excellent, Good or Fair. VoltVault's PS5 Disc Edition is open-box and never used: the box has been opened, but the console itself has not been used.
How much is an open-box PS5?
VoltVault's PS5 Slim Disc Edition 1TB is $399 USD, open-box and never used, with free tracked shipping from Utah, USA. Other stores price open-box units by condition, so check their pages for today's prices; Best Buy grades its returned open-box units Excellent, Good or Fair.
Is VoltVault's open-box PS5 used?
No. It is open-box, never used: the box has been opened, so we do not sell it as factory-sealed, but the console has not been used. If it arrives not as described, the 30-day money-back guarantee covers it.
Is it refurbished?
No. A refurbished console (for example a Geek Squad refurbished unit) has been used or returned, then restored and resold. Ours has not been used, so we do not call it refurbished.
Is it the Disc Edition, the Digital Edition or the PS5 Pro?
The Disc Edition: the PS5 Slim with a 1TB SSD and the disc drive built in. VoltVault does not sell the Digital Edition, and this is not the PS5 Pro, which is a different console with its own open-box page.
Does Sony still sell the PS5 Disc Edition new?
Yes. When we read it on October 28, 2026, Sony's PlayStation Direct page for the PS5 Console 1 TB listed it and said "This console has a disc drive." Stock changes, so check Sony's page for today's status. VoltVault has the 1TB Slim Disc Edition in stock, open-box and never used, at $399 USD.
Will game discs keep working on it?
Sony's PS5 page says: "From Jan 2028, newly released games on PlayStation will be available for purchase on PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital format only." Best Buy's page for this console says: "Discs for games released before Jan. 2028 can continue to be played on this console." Both read October 28, 2026.
What comes in the box?
The PS5 Slim Disc Edition console, a DualSense controller, the cables and the horizontal feet. The vertical stand is sold separately, as Sony's own page also says.
How fast does it ship, and can I return it?
It ships from Utah, USA within 2 business days of confirmed payment, and the tracking number is emailed when the label is made. You can return it within 30 days of delivery for a full refund of the item price.
