Does the iPhone Duo have Face ID?
No. The iPhone Duo does not have Face ID. It uses Touch ID: a fingerprint sensor built into the side button, which Apple says works the same way whether the phone is closed or open. VoltVault lists the iPhone Duo in 256GB ($1,899 USD), 512GB ($2,099 USD), 1TB ($2,499 USD) and 2TB ($3,099 USD), US model, open-box and never used, with free tracked shipping from Utah, USA.

What Apple's spec sheet says
| Face ID | Not listed for the iPhone Duo |
|---|---|
| Touch ID | Fingerprint sensor built into the side button |
| Folded or open | Same sensor, same button, either way |
| iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max | Face ID, no Touch ID |
Apple's own answer on its iPhone Duo page: "iPhone Duo uses Touch ID, which is integrated into the side button. This gives you an easy, secure, and consistent way to authenticate iPhone Duo, whether it's closed or open." A face camera has to see your face; a button under your thumb works the same in either shape.
How Touch ID works day to day
From Apple's Touch ID guide and Apple's Touch ID security page:
- Set it up in Settings, Touch ID & Passcode, Add a Fingerprint. You need a passcode first.
- Up to five fingerprints. Add a thumb for each hand, or a family member's finger.
- Clean and dry. Apple asks for a clean, dry finger and sensor. Wet or gloved fingers mean typing the passcode instead.
- Security: Apple puts the chance of a random fingerprint matching at 1 in 50,000 with one enrolled finger. After five failed tries, the phone asks for the passcode.
- Passcode still needed after a restart, and when the phone has stayed locked for more than 48 hours.
- Apps and purchases: Touch ID approves App Store purchases, and apps can let you sign in with it.
Is Touch ID a reason not to buy?
For most people, no: you rest a finger on the side button, the same button that wakes the phone. It matters if you rely on unlocking without touching the phone, for example with gloves on or wet hands. Our page on iPhone Duo problems covers the other trade-offs.
If you want Face ID, the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max have it (Apple's iPhone 18 Pro specs). Compare the Duo and the 18 Pro or the Duo and the 18 Pro Max.

No. Apple lists Touch ID on the iPhone Duo, with the fingerprint sensor built into the side button. Face ID is not on its spec sheet.
Where is the Touch ID sensor on the iPhone Duo?
In the side button. Apple's specs say "Fingerprint sensor built into the side button".
Does Touch ID work when the iPhone Duo is folded?
Yes. Apple says Touch ID in the side button works the same way whether the iPhone Duo is closed or open.
Can I use Touch ID in apps and for purchases?
Yes. Apple's Touch ID pages say it can approve purchases in the App Store, and developers can let you sign in to their apps with it.
How many fingerprints can I add?
Up to five, in Settings, Touch ID & Passcode. Apple notes each extra print can make matching take slightly longer.
Do the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max have Face ID?
