A 13-inch M3 takes the Magic Keyboard for iPad Air 13-inch and the Smart Folio for iPad Air 13-inch. Sizes are not interchangeable, and none of these fit an iPad Pro.

First, check which iPad Air you have
On the iPad, open Settings → General → About. Model Name shows the exact model, for example "iPad Air 11-inch (M3)" or "iPad Air 13-inch (M3)". Match the screen size first. Ordering the wrong size is the mistake that sends keyboards back.

Apple Pencil Pro vs Apple Pencil (USB-C) on the M3
Both Pencils work on both M3 sizes, so on this iPad the choice comes down to features and price, not compatibility.

Apple Pencil (USB-C) ($59) keeps Apple Pencil precision, tilt and hover. It pairs and charges with a USB-C cable and has no pressure sensitivity, squeeze, barrel roll, haptics or Find My. Choose it if you mostly write notes, annotate PDFs or tap through apps, and you would rather pay less.

Magic Keyboard for iPad Air: when it is worth it
The Magic Keyboard for iPad Air gives you a large glass Multi-Touch trackpad, a 14-key function row, scissor keys with 1 mm travel and a floating hinge you can tilt to the viewing angle you want. Charging passes through a USB-C port in the hinge, so the iPad's own port stays free. It closes into a case that protects front and back. It requires iPadOS 18.3 or later.
